Management Team Profile:
Christina Bulloch - Owner & Operator

Experience

Christina has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Calgary in Primatology. While obtaining her B.Sc., she worked in pet stores, vet clinics and finally as a lab animal technician for the University of Calgary. She has worked closely with both animals and clients dealing with a number of different health scenarios throughout her animal career.

Christina's years in the animal medical field allow her to see signs of illness sometimes before an owner does. She can inform clients of her concerns, which often need the attention of a vet. This in turn usually results in healthy pets and happy owners.

An important skill gained from her background includes proper animal handling, which is essential when safely grooming and conducting nail trims on the dogs less appreciative of such a pampered service.

Through both her paid and volunteer work, Christina has gained valuable experience in dog breeds and behavior, a factor granting her additional knowledge for providing a safe surrounding for dogs, clients and staff.

Christina owns an Australian Shepherd cross named Austin, as well as two cats, two parrots and a fish tank full of aquatic life.

Management Team Profile:
Lisa Flaman - Owner & Operator

Experience

Lisa has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alberta in Conservation Biology with a focus on Wildlife Biology. Working with wildlife since 1996, Lisa has been honored to have extensive experience with wild canines.

Lisa gained widespread knowledge of the Swift fox through volunteering with the Cochrane Ecological Institute. In 2004 Lisa began work with the Northern Lights Wildlife Wolf Centre granting her life long dream to live with a pack of wolves. Lisa continues as a volunteer today with both organizations. As a result of countless hours watching and studying wolf and fox behaviour, Lisa has an extraordinary understanding of the origin of domestic dogs. This knowledge is invaluable, especially when dealing with the pack like situation that Rowdy Dogz daycare presents.

Her passion for dogs has lead her on a path to become certified as a Healing Touch for Animals® practitioner. Currently with level 2 Healing Touch for Animals® training provided by the Komitor Healing Method Inc., Lisa is a healing touch practitioner with the ability to offer bio-field energy-medicine promoting energy balance and healing of animals to assist with injuries, illness, surgeries, wound healing, behavioral problems and stress related issues.

Lisa's knowledge of environmental issues as a Conservation Biologist and passionate environmentalist will be fundamental when moving the business towards environmental sustainability.

Lisa has an A.R.F. rescue dog named Burton, and a lovely cat named Raymond, along with a couple Chilean rose hair tarantulas.

Personal Goals for Rowdy Dogz:

Christina & Lisa will strive to create an eco-friendly business on all levels. Providing environmentally friendly pet products is important to them. As well, all products used by the business, such as cleaning products and grooming supplies will be as environmentally sound as possible. Lisa and Christina will strive to influence other businesses to operate on the same level with hopes that Rowdy Dogz will not stand alone as an environmentally conscious business. In the future, Lisa and Christina envision Rowdy Dogz operating out of a LEED® certified Green Building demonstrating the businesses commitment to environmental sustainability. It is their goal that people across the city recognize Rowdy Dogz as a place committed to happy and healthy dogs.

Dog Trainers:

Charlotte is one of the trainers at Rowdy Dogz and has been training dogs in the Calgary area for the past five years. She completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Calgary in Primatology with a minor in Psychology. As a result of this background, as well as the years she spent working for the Calgary Humane Society, she takes a gentle and scientific approach to training and behaviour modification, using what we know about learning and behaviour to achieve results with your dog. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers (CAPPDT) and is currently working on her certification with the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. Because she believes that training should not be a stressful or painful experience for your pet, she focuses on positive, humane methods in class. She also keeps up to date on new developments in training and behaviour by attending many seminars and conferences including the annual CAPPDT conferences, and seminars by Dr. Ian Dunbar, Jean Donaldson, Turid Rugaas, Brenda Aloff, and Dr. Jean Dodds. She is owned by two dogs: an elderly Border Collie mix and a Jack Russell Terrier with a lot of opinions, as well as two cats, some reptiles and some birds.

Kathleen is Rowdy Dog's other dog trainer. Kathleen has been training dogs for 14 years and teaching for the last five. She has three Labrador Retrievers and an Airedale. Kathleen has appeared in the Superdogs at Stampede with her dogs Mojito and Clancy and is experienced in Disc, Tracking, Freestyle and Agility. Kathleen is a clicker trainer and uses positive training methods to coach owners and their dogs. Her classes are fun and informative.
